Day 10, April 5th - Flagstaff to Albuquerque, including Painted Desert and our friend Madge Harrah.

We left about 8:00 AM, heading east to miss the weather. Stopped at Painted Desert and Gallup before pulling into the Holiday Inn Express, Balloon Park, in Albuquerque. We'd stayed in this motel in 2004, and it sure wasn't what it was in then.

Painted Desert

We stopped at Painted Desert, part of Petrified Forest National Park. When we went out to the overlooks to take pictures, the winds just about blew us away - it was COLD. Didn't spend nearly as much time or take as many pictures as we would have had the weather been nice.

We headed on toward Albuquerque, stopping at a Navajo-run mini-welcome center just inside the New Mexico border. Had a Navajo taco (with beef, not mutton) for lunch at Gallup and went on to Albuquerque.
